I can't believe I've never really thought about this until now
but...such is life.

I use a DEQ2496 in the digital loop of my Transporter. My question is:
how exactly does this work? What I mean by that is, I've read a lot
about the supposed ills of digital volume controls. How does using
something like the DEQ2496 in the digital loop differ from a digital
volume control (other than the fact that it obviously allows much finer
"volume adjustments" across the frequency spectrum). Additionally, the
DEQ2496 has a setting called 'gain offset'. How is this any different
- if at all - from using digital attenuation such as that on the
Transporter itself.

Just curious.

Thanks,
Joe
