PC and sound system are in different rooms so I have to run back and
forth making it harder to note/remember each change. I've been
switching between 20000 buffer and lower values (3200-3800) My general
feeling is that the 20000 gives more openness and micro detail while
the lower values are a bit smoother/fuller.
On classical I'm getting the impression that 20000 is a bit bright
while 3xxx seems to lose a bit of articulation on bass heavy material.

When I first installed TT 3.0 I went with 3800 and found it to be VERY
detailed but of course that was compared to out of the box w-lan
configured SB. So I guess it's all relative.
What I still can't understand with buffer values is why it has to be
3xxx or 20000. Why not 10000 or 12000?
Could somebody please explain this to me.
