I think the reason for this endless tweaking is we keep trying to get more bass from bass light recordings and then we long for those scintillating details which, of course, come with a certain stridency on thinner sounding recordings. And vise versa. Somebody should write an algorithm that adjusts accordingly to the recording. "Auto tone control"
