Don't think so - the Ethernet network interface is on chip and handle
ethernet but spec sheet doesn't indicate any TCP/IP support in
silicon.

I take no position in the discussion - just feel that the current CPU
utilisation levels may be a result of a balancing act.  The developers
spent a lot of time optimising the system  - I suppose the ideal would
reduce CPU for all formats to an acceptable minimal level but there may
have been other sub goals such as ensuring screen updating (e.g. smooth
text scrolling).


I also expect Flac (especially 96/24 with high compression) to be more
CPU intensive than WAV but it need be not as big a difference as
expected.   Ultimately, measurement should show which is more CPU
intensive and their relative performance.
