Well they have analog inputs too, you don't have to use the DAC .

AVi should have deviced a small central unit of some kind as option if
you have many digital sources or hometheater , so I would have to use
the analog input and some other Av processor if used in my main system
or the line outs of decent HT reciever .
In my kitchen system the digital would be fine .
