Except when the measurements are done by one of their own (JA @ Stereophile) and which point the measurements can then be used to: 1) Prove how reasonable and highly scientific audiophiles can be 2) To form a stick to beat over the heads of the nonbelievers Audiophiles tend to use measurements and specs to either prove how great something is, e.g. the high resolution game 24bit > 16 bit = better, 192kHz > 44.1 kHz = better, or to be dismissed, e.g. distortion measurements of tube equipment. Numbers can be a nice little tool in the right hands.
