Apologies, I used the wrong word, I was thinking of pivoted arms. It has been rather a while since I indulged in the analogue thing.
AFAICR, the tangential systems available in my day were rather pricey. I vaguely recall Bang & Olufson being heavily into the idea. But their stuff wasn't cheap either. So I do actually fully agree with wot Clive said, I just had a senior moment.
