They are bad, per se. Excess sample rates take more technology to make
perform well in the audio band, and they open the bandpass at the high
end to admission of bad things like the HF waves emitted by the
now-endemic switchmode power supplies, for example.

Up to a MHz or more, the excess technology to handle the gratuitous
sample rate extension is readily available, and just costs money. It has
been used as a justification for higher pricing of devices based on the
higher sample rate parts.

The fact that the ear is basically a spectrum analyzer that throws away
the complex part of the data it digitizes above 500 Hz-1 KHz helps make
the discussion of frequency versus time relatively uninteresting. The
fact that the brain throws away most of the rest when it receives the
data, further shortens any interesting discussion. The fact is that
phase information(within bounds) often does not do a lot to benefit
communication or survival explains that.

Actually, phase information has been generally available for decades in
the ranges where it can possibly be perceived.

Back in Y2K I obtained a wide-bandwidth, high quality recording system
and made my own recordings of individual sounds and small groups.

About 10 years later, this guy did an even better job of it:
