It has so far not proved possible to find a viable venue for Tour 0
(25/26 April). This is most likely because it falls in the football
season, unlike some of the later large events.

The decision has therefore been taken to split the event on a
north/south basis, allowing us to ask for smaller bids (10-12 pitches or
so) which hopefully we'll be able to find. At this late stage, we will
accept bids even from TDs or venues who are running other events in this
year's calendar, because we simply must find a venue for Tour 0.

The split will occur at Luton - any team based north of there
(technically, north of 51.865456 degrees latitude if you want to get
argumentative) will attend the northern qualifiers, and any team based
south of there will attend the southern qualifiers.

The reason for this dividing line is based on last year's tour - if we
look at the top 48 teams, then 24 are north of there and 24 south of
there (n.b. Trigger and MMJ don't have a home town listed on the UKU
website, so they've been put in the north, as have GB masters and GB
Juniors). Not only that, but there's actually quite a big gap between
Curve in London and BAF in Evesham, so this really is a good place to
make the split.

What's more, using this dividing line, the top 4 (who will be excluded
from T0) are split 2:2 (north:south), the top 8 are 4:4, the top 16 are
8:8, and the top 32 are 17:15. Pretty good.

Your finishing position at T0 in your region will then translate to a T1
seeding based on last year's tour positions - e.g. if you finish 3rd at
T0 North, then you will take the seeding of last year's 3rd placed
northern team (6th, in this case).

Anyway, all this is detail. The point is: please submit bids to host
these events to admin(at)ukultimate.com ASAP.

Cheers,
Benji
