LUCRE 2010: Lemmings Ultimate & Cancer REsearch
The second ever LUCRE fundraising tournament was held in Warwick on Saturday.
Including Entry Fee, T-Shirt Sales and Raffle, the tournament made in excess of
£500 (exact amount will be announced once all donations are collected) for
Cancer Research UK.
Thanks to everyone who was involved, including all of our kind sponsors, the
players and the team who put the tournament on.
It was Ex-Uriel (a side made up mostly of Ocelots) who deservedly won the
Plate, beating uBu, Aston Hornets and Bear Force One, who were sixth, seventh
and eighth respectively.
Host side Leamington Lemmings were beaten in the semi-final by sister team the
Leamington Lemurs. Local school side Evolution had a great tournament, but were
narrowly beaten by Manchester team Duffa in their semi-final.
The final was an epic affair, Lemurs and Duffa traded points for much of the
match, with Duffa up by one when the 30 second countdown began. A quick few
one-twos between Del Robins and Lucas Hillson, finished with a hammer to Si
Worthington took the game to sudden death. A mammoth point, lasting over five
minutes was eventually won by the Leamington Lemmings.
A big thanks to everyone involved, and we look forward to doing it all again in
2011.
