Miami, Florida - October 11th 2005
- Give a man a fish and you feed
him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a
lifetime. Lao
Tzu
In the
case of the amazingly talented Spoken Word Artists from New
Orleans this saying is bitter sweet for they not only know how
to "fish" they have perfected the craft. It is in the
aftermath of Katrina that they like countless
others now need to get their rods back. In an
effort to support these poets, members of South
Florida's Spoken Word Community invite you to be a part
of our relief effort by supporting Mello Mondays, and 3rd
Wednesdays . As they showcase members of the New
Orleans National Slam team October 17th thru
December 21st 2005
Each
poet will be featured at the above venues, and make guest
appearance at other events, over a one week period where they
will be given the opportunity to perform and sell
product. We will also be accepting donations specific to
each poets needs. We are urging the South Florida community to
come out in support of these poets.
As a
community we know first hand about the devastations of
hurricanes and the hardship of putting the pieces back
together. Your attendance and your financial support is
welcomed and appreciated as these poets many with
families and financial obligations attempt to put the pieces
of their life back together.
