CBCF's Black Health Empowerment Project and Tour is a national effort to empower and improve the health of African American individuals, families, churches, and communities through obesity education and health promotion.
African Americans are disproportionately affected by the current obesity epidemic, with an estimated 61% of men and 77% of women overweight or obese. African American children are also more likely to be overweight or at risk of becoming overweight. Overweight and obesity are associated with a number of chronic health conditions including heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, depression, breathing problems and certain types of cancers.
CBCF's Black Health Empowerment Project is sponsored by AstraZeneca and General Mills.
