Sekou (tha misfit) is a powerful
performer who commands attention on stage with effortless presence and energy.
He is a two time National Poetry Slam Competion champion, winning the 2003
team championship (with Team Los Angeles) and the 2002 individual championship,
as well as the individual championship at the 2003 Word Up! National Poetry
Slam. Sekou's work has been featured on ABC World News, FOX News, Good Morning
America, MTV, BET, HBO Def Poetry, Artisan Films, NIKEbasketball.com, at Oprah
Winfrey's celebration of Maya Angelou's 75th Birthday, on national radio and
internet spots, and in two national spoken word tours - the Underground Poet's
Railroad and the Declare Yourself Road Show.

Steve Connell has been a fan of the
word - written, spoken, sung, rapped, slammed - for as long as he can remember.
He has won both the first two poetry grand slams in which he competed, making
him the 2002 Hollywood Grand Slam Poetry Champion and the 2003 L.A. Grand Slam
Poetry Champion. He culminated the 2003 slam year by winning the National Slam
Poetry Championship with his team (Team Los Angeles) in Chicago. When he
is not traveling as a cast member of the Declare Yourself Spoken Word Showcase,
Steve can be found performing at his home poetry venue, Da Poetry Lounge, in Los
Angeles.
