I'm not terribly familiar with git, either; we've just moved to Mercurial ourselves (mainly due to expected portability issues with git). Judging from the contents of users.txt, we're the only gnulib users to be using that. :) ...however, I think if you use "git-am", it will automatically pull the author information from the From header, and the commit message from the Subject header. - -- Micah J.
