Hi there,

Jason and I are having problems with GRUB in Debian because its dependency
on automake 1.5.

The problem is that am 1.5 has been removed from Debian because it's
deprecated. When I asked the automake debian maintainer about this, he
said that very few software projects depend on 1.5 nowadays, and that
migrating to 1.6 or a newer version is what we should do for GRUB.

Okuji, may I update GRUB to use a newer automake? I have patches for automake
1.6 but I can update for 1.7.7 if you prefer.

It is important to get this fixed soon, otherwise it could be that GRUB
can't be released with next Debian release.
