Can't confirm with Ubuntu 10.04, LilyPond 2.19.8, ghostscript 8.71 Though: on my machine env|grep LANG returns: LANG=de_DE.utf8 GDM_LANG=de_DE.utf8 LANGUAGE=de:en With export LANG=en_US I can duplicate your warning.
