I've been working in New Orleans the last couple of weeks and using Gratis as
my condo.
On Sun. I saw the Coasties out in their chopper and wondered what was up. This
morning the story came out. 3 adults in an outboard power boat, the motor quits
and all 3 of 'em go to the stern to check it out. The boat swamps and capsizes.
Now here comes the best part, they were rescued by SYC juniors in Opti's out
tuning up for the Mardi Gras regatta. Every one was O.K. and the power boat was
recovered
I can tell you this, sleeping on board in 50 degrees and clear is great,
especially after a few rum's at the bar!

Okay so we were out on a Hinckley 40 power boat and we had heat, but
nonetheless, it was nice to be out on the water on Saturday.

A friend had to go over to the Hinckley yard in Oxford from Annapolis and
asked if we wanted to go along. Of course we jumped at the opportunity. 33
kts and about an hour each way with lunch in Oxford. Needless to say it was a
nice little jaunt. And even with the enclosed cockpit and some heat, it was
still pretty cold.

Saw a few hearty sailors and a few work boats out, but other than that, it
was pretty quiet on the water.
