Dear all,

I would like to bring the following post-doctoral positions to your attention.
Thank you for allowing it to post here.

Kind regards,

Martin Pos

*Two Post-Doctoral Positions at the Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany*

An international (French/German) collaborative research program has recently
been funded (ANR/BMBF) to investigate and develop a novel class of *efflux pump
inhibitors in Gram-negative bacteria*. The project aims to fully elucidate the
mechanism of action of the efflux pump inhibitors, understand the structural
biology and perform medicinal chemistry to develop the inhibitors into drug
like molecules for in vivo proof of concept. The bacteria of interest are E.
coli, K. pneumoniae, A. baumannii and P. aeruginosa.

This application concerns *a postdoctoral researcher position* at the
*Institute of Biochemistry*, in the department of Membrane Transport
Machineries (Prof. Dr. Klaas M. Pos) and *a postdoctoral researcher position*
at the *Institute of Biophysics* in the department of Cryo-Electron Microscopy
(Prof. Dr. Achilleas Frangakis) at the *Goethe University Frankfurt*, Germany.
In these closely collaborating teams, the research focus will be to define the
molecular determinants of efflux pump inhibitor binding and its mechanism of
action using X-ray crystallography, single-particle electron microscopy,
Cryo-electron tomography, as well as molecular biology and biochemistry.

The applicants are required to have a PhD in biochemistry and/or structural
biology. Candidates must have demonstrated profound research experience in
structure solution of membrane proteins by X-ray crystallography and/or
single-particle Cryo-EM and/or Cryo-ET. It is essential that the candidates are
able to work efficiently in the context of an international collaboration and
interact with microbiology and chemistry collaborators. Candidates must have a
publication record in good and relevant scientific journals.

For interested candidates: please send a CV (listing education, research skills
and publications) and a focused letter of motivation to
p...@em.uni-frankfurt.de (deadline: December 31st, 2019)

The positions are available from the beginning of March 2020 for up to 3 years.
