So before my father's death and military school, I used to live on a cul-de-sac off Lake Michigan in the ritzy suburb of Chicago named Highland Park. I lived at 29 Lakeview Terrace, overlooking the lake, which has since been purchased along with the two adjoining properties, leveled, and a 12,000 s.f. mansion built in its place.
So last week I saw a trailer for a new Samuel L. Jackson movie named "Lakeview Terrace," so I started looking to see if it was the same place (it wasn't). But what I did come across was the name of the previous owner of our house (we moved in 1964). Turns out he was the son of the Swiss philosopher Franz Brentano, who influenced Sigmund Freud and many others. I saw his entry on Wikipedia, but I was wondering if any of you had heard of Franz Brentano or learned anything from his work. So how about it? Any former philosophy majors out there?
