I take it you have never been to Southern California. Rain itself is an event; the kind of rain we are experiencing right now is almost unheard of. Most people here have little or no experience driving in anything more than a light drizzle. I would not be at all surprised to see 15-20 fatalities from this storm by the end of the day. That might be everyday business where you live, but here it will be the only thing on the news all day.
