"The Patriot Act and the Department of Homeland Securty were not created by
Democrats. "

Several things here. There seems to be a hidden assumption that George Bush
and the Republicans who created these monstrosities where conservative.
Next, they did not create them in a vacuum. The Democrats were too afraid
to stand up to the Republicans due to fear of a backlash over the paranoia
created by 911. Also, when the Democrats resumed power in 2006, they picked
up the ball and kept running. They doubled down on the TSA. Finally, these
agencies, as far as I know, have never told anyone how many kids to have,
who to marry, or what to worship. However, they have recently been painting
terrorist as right wing conservatives and Christians (
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/apr/16/napolitano-stands-rightwing-extremism/)
while ignoring Islam (
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2011/06/09/napolitano_no_logic_in_profiling_muslim_men_under_the_age_of_35.html
).

Now, it seems you shifted the argument from social issues to freedom in
general. It's debatable, but I believe all of the following have
contributed to a loss of freedom: the income tax implement by Woodrow Wilson
(D), most of the agencies created by and policies implemented by FDR (D),
the Great Society implemented by Lyndon B. Johnson (D), the NEA created by
Jimmy Carter (D), Obamacare implement by Barack Obama (D). Feel free to
throw your two onto the list with George Bush and an R.

In the end, both parties are helping destroy our liberty. In my opinion,
the Democrats are just better at it.

The power to tax involves the power to destroy. - John Marshall

We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the
national security objectives that we've set. We've got to have a civilian
national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as
well-funded. - Barack Obama
