Adams County:
--A juv Sabine's Gull was reported by Gibbons at Barr Lake on October
4.  Roller reported seeing it again on October 8.

Arapahoe County:
--A Broad-winged Hawk  was reported by Hilf at the Cherry Creek  
Country Club Golf Course, about 2 miles west of Cherry Creek State  
Park on October 12.
--An adult Lesser Black-backed Gull and a Sabines Gull were reported  
by Beltz at Cherry Creek State Park in the Marina area by the logs on  
October 11.
--A Pacific Loon was reported by Brown at Cherry Creek State Park on
October 11.

Archuleta County:
--  A juv Sabine's Gull was reported by Beatty at Piedra Branch of  
Navajo Reservoir on October 5.  It was seen again during a Durango
Bird Club trip on October 10.

Boulder County:
--A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Szeliga soaring over the  
Gunbarrel area in Boulder County on October 12.
--A Swamp Sparrow was reported by Floyd at Panama Reservoir on October
11.
--A juv Sabine's Gull was reported by Pieplow at Boulder Reservoir on
October 5 and was last reported by Waltman on October 12.

El Paso County:
--A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Lee at Meadowlake (off Mallard  
Drive in Flacon, east of Colorado Springs) on October 12, 2009.

Jefferson County:
--A Thayer's Gull (4th cycle) was reported by Semo at Standley Lake on
October 11.

Jefferson/Douglas County:
--A White-winged Scoter was repoted by Kellner at the Chatfield Big
Sit in October 11.

Larimer County:
--6 American Golden-Plovers, 1 Dunlin and 4 Short-billed Dowitchers
were reported by Wild at Timnath Reservoir on October 11. 2 American  
Golden-Plovers were reported by DeFonso on October 12 .
--A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Sparks at Lee Martinez Park on  
October 10 and October 11.
--A Magnolia Warbler was reported by Kogler at Dixon Reservoir on
October 9.
--A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Kogler near Salyar and McMurray,
north of FTC on October 9.
--2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls (1adult,1second cycle) reported by Komar  
at Horesetooth Reservoir on October 8.

Logan County:
--A Short-billed Dowitcher was reported by Peterson at Jumbo Reservoir  
on October 9.

Montrose County:
--A POSSIBLE COMMON BLACK-HAWK was reported by Crutcher on the south
end of the Uncompahgre Plateau, near Sanborn Park and close to an old
white schoolhouse in Unit 61 Hunting Area on October 9.

Pueblo County:
--A juv. Thayer’s Gull was reported by Percival at the South Marina  
at Pueblo Reservoir on October 12.
--A White-throated Sparrow was reported by Percival at Valco Ponds on
October 4 and seen again on October 9.

Washington County:
--A female Black-throated Blue Warbler and a White-throated Sparrow   
were reported by Kellner at the Last Chance rest area on October 9.
--A Harris's Sparrow was repoted by Peterson near the Last Chance Rest
area at the yard south of Hwy 36 along 71 on October 9.
--An Eastern Phoebe was reported by Peterson at Prewitt Reservoir on
October 9.

Weld County:
--A Fox Sparrow was reported by Erikson at her home North of Greely on  
October 12.
--A PROBABLE RED-SHOULDERED HAWK  and a Broad-winged  Hawk were  
reported by Finch on the poles near Ireland Reservoir, East of Hudson   
on October 12.
--2 Short-billed Dowitchers were reported by Kaempfer at Union
Reservoir on October 10.
--A BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER was reported by Roller at Crow Valley in the   
cedars in the southwest corner on October 8.

Yuma County:
--A Harris's Sparrow and a White-throated Sparrow were reported by
Peterson on Phillips CR 2 between Hwy 59 and CR 31 on October 9.


On Thursday October 15, Dick Ashford, raptor enthusiast and President
of the Board of the ABA, will be giving a presentation on hawks at the
Chautauqua Community House, Boulder County, at 7:15 p.m.
This "Hawk Talk" is jointly sponsored by Rocky Mountain Bird
Observatory and the ABA, and representatives from both organizations
will be in attendance. Hope to see many of you there!

The DFO field trip for Saturday, October 17, is to Barr Lake State
Park, led by  Peggy Gonder (303) 321-3465 – Peggy prefers e-mail
contact at: pe...@gonderpr.com.  Meet at 0700 at Nature Center parking  
lot. We will watch the Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory on the last day  
of bird banding songbirds as they migrate through.  We'll check the
rest of the park for waterfowl.  Scopes will be appreciated. 1/2 day   
trip, lunch optional. From Denver, take East I-76 to Bromley Lane,   
exit 22.  Go east on Bromley Lane to Piccadilly Road, then turn south   
about 2 miles to Park Entrance. (State Parks Pass required)

The DFO trip for Sunday, October 18 is to Walden Ponds, led by  Kathy
Dunning (303) 333-7253. Meet at 0900 at Cottonwood Parking lot for
this 1/2 day trip, lunch optional.  From Denver: Go west on U.S. 36 to
Foothills Parkway (exit C157) then north to Arapahoe Ave. then east to
75th St. Turn north on 75th past Valmont Rd. and over railroad
tracks.  Turn left at Wildlife Habitat sign and follow road to
Cottonwood Marsh parking lot.
