I think you are correct...but in the end, I got what I wanted out of this.
The reason I did this though, was that recently there has been a lot of discussion about the correct way to "expose" ivars and/or properties. There was also recently a lot of discussion about the dot- notation use in properties, so I just wanted to get my head around all those, which I think I did. The example did take a rather extreme and unfortunate example, but that's the way to learn, I guess.
