I suggest you read the extensive comments on creating NSBitmapImageRep and 
NSImage objects in the Snow Leopard release notes, and choose a strategy 
accordingly (even if you're still on Leopard). The "best" technique for Snow 
Leopard isn't necessarily the "best" technique for Leopard, but you might want 
to plan ahead.
