The 2011-09-16 revision note was correct, because at that time (and until 10.8, I suppose) there wasn’t a way to use weak references with this class in ARC (or, NSMapTable, for that matter — for a while there I had my own implementation of a NSMapTable-API-lookalike that *did* support ARC weak references). When the weak pointer functionality was eventually restored, the new constants were introduced and the old ones deprecated. I have to admit that I’ve read the description of the difference between the old and new constants several times, and I don’t really understand what it says. On a good day, perhaps, it makes sense for a few seconds before I need to go “Huh?” again. _______________________________________________ Cocoa-dev mailing list (Cocoa-dev@lists.apple.com) Please do not post admin requests or moderator comments to the list.
