I tried checking on how did the data look before the rolling restart, and when 
querying a restored backup for each node's system_schema.tables it appears as 
if all the ids (schema versions) are the same and point to the id which wasn't, 
in fact, the table version which was in use before the restart... also - the 
table only had one directory (version) on disk.

Table shows:

select table_name, id from system_schema.tables where keyspace_name = 
'tasks_scheduler_external' and table_name = 'tasks';

 table_name | id
------------+--------------------------------------
      tasks | bd750de0-1567-11e8-bdc5-4f7bcdcb851f
```
While directory name on disk for this table has only this variant:
`tasks-bd7200a0156711e88974855d74ee356f`

All of this aligns with your explanation above.
