Russell,

I have a slightly different suggestion for your parts...The green wire in my
CC connects to the braid that you also found floating in the case. The braid
connects by a a connector and a spring across the curved part of the CRT. It
seems to just rest on the surface of the CRT (but held tight by the spring).

Here's a picture of where it connects on the top...

Here's a picture where you can see the braid running down the left side of
the CRT (just). You can almost see where the green wire connects...

You should find a connector underneath the CRT, similar to the top
connector, to connect the spring/braid to.

HTH.

Scott.

Subject: identifying a cable inside a color classic...

Hi all,

I bought a color classic on ebay for nostalgic reasons ('twas my first
mac).
I found a PDF service manual online and opened it up to clean it out.

To my surprise, laying across the analog board was a spring attached
two two looped lengths of wire that look like picture hanging wire, not
connected to anything. ( I'm not familiar with the internals of compact
macs.) What is this?

In addition, there is a green wire with a clip coming from metal box
the end of the yoke (I think that's the right term) not connected to
anything. I see this wire (I think) in the service manual as something
to disconnect before removing the analog board, but can't tell what
it's supposed to be connected to.

Any clues?

Thanks.
