For me, it is not only "Windows" keys that are involved : I also use <super>,
but along with other regular keys. When I loose my custom shortcuts settings,
all of them are gone; reset to default values (Windows specific keys and
regular keys as well).
As for "when" this happens, that seems to be part of the problem actually -
since some race condition at startup among different software involved in
keybindings is strongly suspected as being the problem...hence the differences
among situations: some users experience the reset after each reboot, some
especially after an update and most experience it randomly with no apparent
reason. For those who experience it mainly after an update, I have a suggestion
to make that has not yet been discussed here: after an upgrade involving
components in the boot process, ureadahead has no pack available (the boot
sequence has to be analysed again and the pack file rebuilt); may I suggest
that the racing condition might show up then because the startup and execution
timing of the inits and other startup programs is different from when there is
a pack file preloading the files involved...Just an idea.
