Rather than write a letter and mail it off to UNIVAIR, I decided to try to
call once more.
I talked to Bob White (Mr. Nice Guy) and he said that he had talked to
the
president about his order directly. He confirmed that they were going to
make up the original order of 11 kits (with a 5 kit reserve) from existing
inventory. They, as well as myself, never gave a thought that the order
would escilate to 31 Kits. When the orders kept coming from the mailing,
Wayne and I were both elated. In fact, we were so happy, we were hoping
that we could get UNIVAIR to pay all the freight due to the increase in
the
order.
Bob went on to explain that he fought for us when he went to the owner.
However, the cost of programming the laser-cutters, and pulling the
various
materials from stock is charged off to the cost of manufacturing the
remaing
15 units. I understand this, since our printing company tracks this same
function and call it "Makeready time". Bob then said that since the
baggage
parts had been siting in inventory for all these years, UNIVAIR was happy
to
finally get rid of it. Therefore, they priced them at the 1970s price
when
they acquired the material from the now defunct Alon.
The next thing we discussed was the increase in the additional orders.
He
said that he priced these as low as possible due to the situation. This is
why he told me NOT TO ACCEPT any orders beyond the 15 new orders at
$400.00.
He cannot do that and come out at all. What started out as a way for
UNIVAIR to get rid of some old stock, has now turned into NEW PRODUCTION.
He
said they are at a break-even point on these 15 orders.
I don't know how many of you have dealt with Bob, but my opinion of him
is
that he is an HONEST and FAIR man. He offered to have my call transferred
to the president of the company, if I chose to go further with my
concerns.
I declined the offer. I am personally satisfied with what Bob has done.
UNIVAIR will package and ship all the units (freight collect). They will
NOT be shipped to Delaware as one order. That is a HUGE help as far as I
am
concerned.
To those who wish to purchase any of the 15 Kits (17 thru 31); I am
sending a letter today to BOB White listing all of your names. I AM
RETURNING YOUR CHECKS TO YOU IN THE MAIL TODAY! Once Bob has the list of
names in his hand, you may call in (888-433-5433) and have it placed on
your
credit card, or you may wish to mail in a check for $400.00. I do want
you
to realize that any kit orders after this order is completed will cost
$485.00 plus freight.
Although this concludes this matter as far as I am concerned, I will
reply
to any comments.
  Sincerely,
George Frebert
