Thanks again for all the responses. I opened the
garage door immediately when I smelled fuel and
pushed the plane outside so the house and plane
are still intact! The next day I pushed it back
inside and the fuel odor is gone again. So far I
have replaced the gaskets on the wing tank fuel
gauge and the gas caps. This was done about a
month ago. The primer and lines to and from it
show no signs of a leak. With the wings off I can
look down the entire lower flange of each wing
tank and can see no seepage or stains. The right
tank was repaired for accident damage at one point
as I can definitely see some bondo on the leading
edge, but there is no smell or leaking there. I
haven't pulled up the seat bottom yet so the
problem may be there. The wing tanks are 3/4 full
and the fuselage tank is full to its normal
level. I have had the fuel valve in the off
position all week. It is very strange how the
plane can smell so bad one day and be fine the
next without having been moved at all!

Continuing to search,
Dan
