The single smartest (and one of the cheapest!) thing I did when I was looking was to join the owners' club prior to buying. If you go to www.ercoupe.net and click on the owners' club link, you'll find info about how to join. When you join, you get the club newsletter which has lots of useful information about 'Coupes, and publishes an owners directory every year so that you can locate a 'Coupe owner near you. Also, many of the best 'Coupes which are up for sale are advertised in the newsletter classifieds. Where are you located? I think you'll find that this is an incredibly helpful bunch; if you tell 'em where you are I'm betting folks will be showing up to take you up in their 'Coupes. They sure did for me.
