As with any other certification issue, simply put, if you don't have the
STC 
(which involves filing 337s for "modifications" to both the airframe and 
engine, and you're operating on MoGas, then your aircraft does not conform

the type certificate and is unairworthy.  Period.  You're insurer will
love 
it!
