Ah! I know just the message. It was a message I sent as a test while
setting up some dot-courier forwards. At first I set it up incorrectly,
and that one got stuck. Then I got it working correclty and kind of
figured the stuck message would eventually just get rejected. I didn't
notice that it had its own process (which I did see later when I was
killing off all the server processes).

I had only a vague idea of what it was that made that message get stuck. I
think I tried a direct mailbox delivery by putting the full path to the
Maildir in the .courier file. This was not working so I ended up putting
the (local) user's email address in the .courier file. (I was sending a
copy of messages for recipient A to recipient B. But mail to recipient A
was to be forwarded off to an aol address. I ended up with two lines in
.courier. One with the aol address and one with the local address. I had
thought that it would be more efficient to specify the local Maildir, but
I could not get this working.)

So hopefully this will not occur again, if I don't make any whacked
.courier files!

Thanks for the detailed reply, BTW!
