Hi Kevin,

Here are the notes I wrote down immediately after attending the 10/23/73 concert.
I didn't make any attempt to put the songs in order.
I did note which songs were in which set. Noted by a "1", "2" or "E" for encore
I also noted which songs started and ended the respective sets. "F" for first and "L" for last.

I made some flubs as far as which songs were in set 1 or set 2. But, otherwise my list agrees with DeadLists.

Beat It On Down The Line 1
The Other One 2
China Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider 1
Casey Jones E   I also made a note "1/2" to indicate that the song had been interrupted.
Sugar Magnolia 2 L
Brokedown Palace 1
One More Saturday Night E
Jack Straw 1
Brown Eyed Women 1
Ramble On Rose 1
Black Throated Wind 1
Mexicali Blues 1
Me & My Uncle 1
Me & Bobby McGee 1
Sugaree 1
Deal 1
Half Step Mississippi Uptown Toodeloo 2 F
Row Jimmy 1
Weather Report Suite 2
Promised Land 1 F
El Paso 1
"Hope You Can See That It's True" 1 (They Love Each Other)
"Cry Cry Cry" 1 (Big River)
'Round & 'Round 1 L
"Thank You For A Real Good Time" 1 (Loose Lucy)

I remember thinking, at the time, that I had too many "1st set" songs in my notes, but  I couldn't pin down which ones belonged in the 2nd set.
I also noted that the 1st set started about 7:30 and lasted 1:45 The encore ended at 11:20 and with the 2nd set ran 1:40.
As far as Casey Jones & One More Saturday Night being encores or not, I made my notes shortly after the show ended and I'm as certain as I can be, after all these years, that they were indeed encores.
And then there's the fight. The show had assigned seating and my seat was about half way back on the floor on an aisle. But, by the end of the show, I had worked my way up the aisle (along with several hundred other fans) to, roughly, the 5th row. I didn't see the beginning of the fight, but I think it started when a fan jumped the rail between the seats and the stage. I guess a security guy tried to haul the fan away and the fight broke out. I was close enough to see that they were duking it out pretty good. Naturally, the band noticed and put a stop to it.
There was one part of the incident that you don't get from the recording. While the fight was still in progress Billy got up from his kit and grabbed one of the vocal mic stands and gave the security guy a tap on the head. Not so hard that it hurt him, but hard enough to get his attention. I think that's about the time the fight stopped. I don't remember what happened to the fan. Maybe he went back over the rail. As I've been writing this, it came back to me that they were selling beer at the arena (a first for me) and I think they were even allowing fans to take beer to their seats. That may have been a contributing factor...

If you have any questions, I'll be available at this e-mail address through next Thursday.
Yours truly,
Matt Williams
