Comments A recording of 2/19/69 has long circulated mislabelled with this date.
A ticket for this show is in the Art of Rock and it says "Carousel Ballroom
"Soul Scene" Benefit Dance for the Blackman's Free Store, Weds. June 19 7:30pm,
Admission ticket, $1.50 advance, $2.00 at door". Listed as performing are
Richie Havens and the Grateful Dead.

One [[60:16+]] ; [60:16+] ; Turn On Your Lovelight [#20:54] > Not Fade Away
[4:09] > Turn On Your Lovelight [9:14] ; [25:59] (1)
Two [[54:21+]] ; [54:21+] ; Jam [7:16] > The Main Ten (Playing In The Band)
[11:08] > Jam [23:19] > The Other One Jam [12:17] ; [0:21] %
Comments Billed as The Celestial Synapse. This is a very strange show. (1) Set
1 ended with Lovelight and was followed by Don McCoy of Rancho Olompali on
stage naked speaking to the crowd, followed by some chanting, and other
shenanigans. There is an unknown guest guitarist who may be John Cipollina on
the part listed as Set 2.

The last 34 min initially circulated separately with some copies having more of
the audience at the end than others. It sounds like it might not be the end of
the show. This has long circulated as 6/19/68 and also as 8/29/68. Some copies
have the Other One Jam cut and others are complete.

There is tape in circulation with this date, labelled "Garcia, Nelson &
Wakefield, the Matrix, San Francisco 2/19/69," 90 SBD reels, but it is not
Grateful Dead and (probably not Wakefield either). The SF Chronicle did list
Casady & Kaukonen at the Matrix on this date, with Weird Herald opening.
