It does not, independently on which of two kernels - 3.2.0-4-amd64, version 3.2.35-2 (with boot_delay=100 to be able to boot with a higher probability)gnome might work better without the vga=780 bit in your cmdline.
- 3.6-trunk-amd64, version 3.6.9-1~experimental.1 (boots most often without any tricks) is booted.
