Hi, I had this behaviour recently (a couple of weeks ago maybe) too. I fixed that by setting "shutdown method = shutdown" in /etc/uswsusp.conf (previous value was "reboot"). I don't know why that file was changed (I certainly didn't put the "reboot" in there), but that might be a possible direction to explore: maybe the maintainer scripts overwrite that data.
