I agree with the original bug reporter.

My use case is I have some large legacy fortran code which works fine under
g77, but which gives bad numerical results under gfortran.  To debug the
issues I have to compare the two results in detail, and I cannot do that now
that the gcc packagers have decided to remove g77 from gcc-3.4.
gcc-3.4 is after all a legacy package which presumably still exists in
Debian to help deal with such legacy code conversion issues for _all_
language components of gcc, and removing g77 from gcc-3.4 subverted that
purpose for the Fortran language component.

Anyhow, please reverse this arbitrary decision and put g77 back into the
gcc-3.4 source package until you decide to drop gcc-3.4 legacy support
altogether.
