I would say not, but that is mainly because Debian package add a layer of QA and maintenance as well. I maintain some upcoming libs in a local Subversion repositor, I could move them to alioth already so people can have a peek inside. However, all my packages use the CDBS class that isn't included in any other package, so it's not buildable unless you have my ~/tmp/cdbs :) I have to hold off a bit. Next to that, it isn't finished, I want to have documentation generation working right, it's messy now and the class is broken.
