Hello Bernhard,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.

You made this bug report in 2010 and there have been several versions of
Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the
ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 537210

and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for
this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.

Title:
thunderbird sends mail instead of putting it into draft folder under
  unstable network

Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: thunderbird

I just had the following problem with 3.0.4~hg20100305r4754+nobinonly-
0ubuntu2~umd3 . I had unstable network due to a bug in lucid and was
typing an email for my gmail account. Then Thunderbird wanted to save
the mail to Drafts but couldn't because network was temporarily down.
This seemed to confuse Thunderbird and once the connection was back it
actually sent the mail! Not putting it into "Drafts" but really
  sending it.
