So would I.

If you find that you cannot talk your manager out of it, you could
offer an alternative whereby all mail is delivered to the log address,
BUT you keep the ~alias/.qmail-log file commented out until you need
to log messages. When the log period is over, recomment the entries in
~alias/.qmail-log. This policy too, I'd get in writing.
