Maybe we're seeing two seperate issues. I reinstalled Samba 2.2.1 and
verified that oplocks was set to no. I then opened a Win2k application
(AutoCAD 2000i), selected open file, then clicked the "Look in" drop down
menu there was the delay (~10-25 sec before list of drives is displayed). I
played around with about six windows apps and found the same delay in all
but the microsoft products.

I can't resist.... Samba 2.2.2 is not "bleeding edge" or experimental
software. It's been around for months and is a better solution for Samba
running as a PDC for Win2k networks than Samba 2.2.1a. Bleeding edge Samba
can be found at:
CVS -d :pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/cvsroot co samba

CVS -d :pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/cvsroot co -r SAMBA_2_2 samba
