Which would mean pre NT SP3? machines may still have the problem, and
this makes me nervous, especially for sites doing a migration from NT
to SME Server.

How about we decouple these special shares from the SambaDomainMaster
setting, and allow you to turn off the shares individually if need be:

smb=service|netlogon|yes|Profiles|yes

Setting SambaDomainMaster=yes sets netlogon|Profiles to yes
Setting SambaDomainMaster=no sets netlogon|Profiles to no

You can then individually tweak them as required. The templates would
guard on the smb service properties.
