Who knows - that's why this is a development list. If you download it and test it and report back here you are participating in the development of SME 5.0. This is not a tech support list. It's up to you to decide whether or you try it out and it's totally at your own risk. > i have never modified any of the servers i've installed (except for e-smith > authorized bug fixes) because i want to make sure that i can upgrade to the > next version with the complete confidence that the upgrade will work. (i > have one production box i've upgraded all the way from essg3.1). That's a good attitude to take with production servers but it's a bit unadventurous if you want to extend your knowledge about SME 5.0 > i know (from following the discussion on this list) that charlie has been > somewhat involved with the development of this patch. but i'm sure that his > involvement is no way an endorsement of future, error free upgrades... The task with the recent samba upgrades is to develop a blade that performs well with SME 5.0. If you aren't interested in participating in the development just stick with the current support release until the new version is stable and gets Mitel's stamp of approval (at which point it will be released as a blade). Of course without developers and testers it may never get released - that's why this list exists really. > darrell, absolutely no slight (to the hard work you've put into this) is > intended(!), but shouldn't i be concerned about 'forking' my SME5.0 box??? Given that this is the official development list for SME 5.0 it's hard to see how anything developed here is a fork. Particularly in relation to the samba upgrade, which encompasses support for win2k domain authentication, something I know the Mitel developers want to achieve in a stable fashion.
