Am I correct in assuming then, that the unix password on a 5.1.2 should be able
to be changed from a win9x or winnt/2k/xp client along with the samba password?

This has not been my experience - mail passwords (i.e.unix) need to be changed
separately from the smb/microsoft networking password - certainly in win9x ? ?
