After reading the FAQ for Flexbackup:

http://flexbackup.sourceforge.net/faq.html

I realized that:

"the latest versions of flexbackup have added -full,
-differential, -incremental" [command-line options] ...

...and seeing that "SME Server 6.0beta3 unsupported developer release"
now has a version of flexbackup which includes the new options, I
wonder if anyone has used them with SME Server 6, and if so, what are your experiences?

I think using differential or incremental backups would greatly decrease
wear-and-tear on my tape drive and decrease load on my server during the backup process, with only a very slight increase in difficulty restoring files (which is very rare for me and most other users, I would expect). I am interested in performing weekly full backups and daily
differential backups, as this would means a full restore would only
require two tapes, and my day-to-day file changes are small. It just seems overkill to do a full backup each day, when so little changes each day. My HP-UX server and Windows servers do incremental and differential backups, so now I am excited at the possibility of
my Mitel server being able to do the same. :-)
