I've the lead programmer on a recent Flex project, and it's not easy to get around, despite its similiarities to Javascript/HTML. Flex tends to lend itself better to structured layouts (e.g. tables, menus, "pages"). Getting it to do something else requires time, planning and good execution. Apart from that, it's a good platform, but it's definitely not going to take 2 days for a javascript developer to get up and running.
