I have had physical problems with the serial port of my 210. As I
understand it, the solder joint where the serial point if attached to
the board was fatiguing. I most remember this problem manifesting
itself intermittently in the early stages, particularly hi-speed
modem stuff. Printing took longer to decay. I futzed with it for
waayyyyyy to long (months) before I finally decided it HAD to be the
physical solder joint. I went through the usual reformat drive,
clean OS, fresh reloads of everything thing several times. Apple
agreed with me and replaced the board under AppleCare. Problem
solved. The right person could probably have soldered it.
