For a 2400, you should probably look for a camera which uses
CompactFlash memory. CompactFlash PCMCIA adapters cost very little,
less than $10 in some cases. The reason they're so cheap is that
CompactFlash is PCMCIA in a smaller package. The adapter needs no
intelligence, it's just a bunch of wires connecting one socket to
another.

Once you stick the CF card in the adapter, you just stick it in a
PCMCIA socket, and it will appear on the desktop as if it were a hard
drive. Fastest way of copying things on and off the card there is
(even faster than USB).

A common mistake is that people like me who prune their Extensions
and Control Panels folders to within an inch of their lives :) often
disable Apple's File Exchange. You need it here because the cameras
universally use the DOS FAT filesystem for flash cards.

The other good thing about CompactFlash is that it's usually cheaper
than SmartMedia.
