Schindler Endowed Professorship in Aquatic Science
Trent University invites applications for the Schindler Endowed Professorship
in Aquatic Science.
This will be a tenured/tenure-track appointment in the Department of Biology to
start July 1,
2009, subject to budgetary approval. Appointment may be at the rank of
Assistant, Associate or
Full Professor. The Schindler Endowed Professorship position is for an initial
three year term, with
the possibility of renewal for a second term. Upon completion of his/her
term(s) as the Schindler
Endowed Professor, the successful candidate will continue as a regular
tenure-track or tenured
faculty member in the Department of Biology. The Professorship was established
to honour the
work of Dr. David Schindler, one of the world’s leading limnologists.
Accordingly, the department
is seeking an aquatic biologist with research interests in freshwater
ecosystems. Applicants must
have a PhD, and a record of outstanding scholarly activity. Preference will be
given to applicants
who have an active research program and a strong teaching record.
The successful candidate will carry a regular teaching, research, and
administrative load.
Opportunities will exist for teaching at the upper year and graduate levels,
but interest and
enthusiasm for teaching courses at the first and second year level will be
considered an asset. The
successful candidate is expected to establish an externally-funded research
program and to
supervise graduate students within the Environmental and Life Sciences Graduate
Program.
